Coffee Table Styling with Grace
Welcome to Grace Scapes — a series highlighting styled tabletops and the process behind them. Each post features a curated vignette by a different creative, highlighting why it works and how it came together. We’re kicking off with a coffee table styled by me!
My favorite part of any home tour is when the homeowner highlights the uniquely curated pieces on a tabletop—beloved books, a signature-scented candle, handmade pottery, or a tiny dish of trinkets. These small vignettes tell stories, spark curiosity, and add soul to a space. I created this blog to celebrate those meaningful moments.
In the first Grace Scapes, I combined a mix of materials—glass, metal, wood, paper, and ceramic—and played with a variety of shapes—sharp edges, curved spirals, a wavy vase (Shop Below), and the organic lines of wood grain. The result? An intentionally eclectic composition that feels layered and interesting.
Fresh flowers are a perfect way to introduce natural elements that tie everything together, add a pop of color, and create visual height and interest. I especially love tulips because they keep growing after being cut, so their look evolves day by day.
Coffee table books are another essential styling staple (Shop Below). On the left, I used a closed book to anchor smaller objects and add height, with the red title on The New Yorker providing a vibrant pop of color. On the right, I opened another book to an interesting photo page, helping to set the tone and showcase an image inviting conversation.
Finally, the spiral coasters from Sophie Lou Jacobsen (Shop Below) add a playful touch to the display, while the aluminum pops against the scape and complements the silver tray (Shop Below).
♠ Grace House Rule: Whether it is textiles, styles, or colors, placing contrasting items next to each other helps to highlight its differences and creates a more visual interest and avoids making the scape look flat.
